Bell Tower

Listen! The LORD is calling to the city -
and to fear your name is wisdom.
Micah 6:9

Stop

Static problems on the marshy ground made it difficult to build church spires directly attached to the church as it is common in other areas of Germany.
Therefore our bell tower, like many medieval bell towers in East Frisia, was built separately.
It is surrounded by the cemetery.

Its four parallel brick walls which nowadays lean sideways almost like the Tower of Pisa house three bells.

The bells can be heard before all services and daily at 8 a.m., at noon, and at 4 p.m.; on Saturdays additionally at 6.p.m. to ring in the Sunday.

Micah 6

Listen to what the LORD says:

Stand up, plead your case before the mountains;
let the hills hear what you have to say.
Hear, O mountains, the LORD's accusation;
listen, you everlasting foundations of the earth.

He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Listen! The LORD is calling to the city –
and to fear your name is wisdom.
